Pemberdayaan Desa dalam Bayang-Bayang Krisis Ekologis (Studi Kasus: Desa Ponggok, Kabupaten Klaten sebagai Desa Wisata)

This study analyzes the dynamics of community empowerment in environmental governance in Ponggok Village, Klaten Regency, by highlighting the structural and political challenges in efforts to build sustainability from and for the community. Although Ponggok is known as a tourist village that has succeeded in mobilizing community participation in environmental preservation, Ponggok Village has not yet found a bright spot. The analytical approach refers to the theory of community empowerment, political ecology, and local-based sustainability. This study uses a Qualitative approach with case studies. The results of this study indicate that environmental programs in Ponggok are often ad-hoc, dependent on central figures, and have not been integrated into long-term policies. The absence of a supportive institutional framework makes community participation vulnerable and unsustainable. This study emphasizes the importance of reformulating the empowerment approach that is not only participatory, but also transformational, by recognizing local knowledge and expanding decision-making space at the village level.
